(FOX Providence) - In August, the first ever Newport Winefest will be held. There you'll be able to sample hundreds of wines and spirits and featured dishes prepared by celebrity chefs.

Jonathon Alsop founder of Boston wine school, joined the Rhode Show to give us a sample of the event along with Executive Chef of Copper Beach Inn and winner of the Food Network series "Chopped," Tyler Andersen.

Jonathan said there will be complimentary wine seminars each day of the event.

Featured wines:

  • Chateau Coucheroy Sauvignon Blanc (France)

Bright, fresh, crisp, zippy -- perfect for summer -- very good when nice and cold.

  • Volteo Garnacha Rose (Spain)

Not your grandmother's rose! Dry, flavorful, a whole new style of rose. Surrender to the pink!

  • Marchesi Morellino di Scansano (Italy)

The best new wine you've never heard of. From Tuscany, a local, still undiscovered sub-variety of Sangiovese/Chianti.
