NEWPORT, R.I. (FOX Providence) - Get your spoons ready! The 2010 Knorr Great Chowder Cook-off is happening Saturday in Newport, and it's sure to draw a crowd.
The Rhode Show's Ben Hague got a sampling of some of the chowders to be offered, and talked to last year's winners who plan on defending their respective titles.
Michael's Seafood Restaurant in Carolina Beach, North Carolina , and Tony's Seafood Restaurant in Cedar Key, Florida were last year's winners of the competition's "Best Seafood" and "Best Clam" categories, respectively, and are back to take home the win again!
And when you think of chowder, usually you think of a place like New England, or, even Manhattan. But how about Alaska?
Tracy's King Crab Shack , hailing from Juneau, Alaska, will be competing in the "Best Seafood" category. The owner and cook talks to The Rhode Show about how she heard of the Cook-Off, why it was important for her to come and compete, and why she thinks her Tracy's King Crab Bisque will be a winner.
Check out the attached video to hear from the competitors.
