Teen returns from Idol's Hollywood week

(FOX Providence) - Woonsocket teen Chandler Cross just returned from American Idol's Hollywood week . She had the chance to audition in front of Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. While she didn't make the cut to the top 24, she has returned to Rhode Island to perform a special song for The Rhode Show.

While Chandler's Hollywood experience ended on the west coast a short time ago, she has great stories about her time in Tinsel Town.

She said what's different about being there in person from what the rest of the world sees on TV.

"It's pretty interesting, especially at Hollywood week, because it's
kind of like they all have their poker faces on and it's really hard to read them."

According to Chandler the toughest judge on the panel right now is Steven Tyler. She says he looks relaxed, but he's actually the most critical.

While auditioning during Hollywood week is a once in a lifetime experience, Chandler said it was really difficult to keep the excitement to herself.

"It was really hard, because I had to keep it a secret for a few months. I couldn't tell anyone. The only people I told were my boyfriend and one of my friends, who has actually been on the show before. Because she had tried out last year when they had it auditions in Boston. So it all had to be really hush hush."

Chandler said just recently she started to talk about her experience and share the news.

Right now, Chandler is keeping busy at her school singing in the glee club. She'll join the group Thursday, March 3 at the statehouse for a special performance.

She's heading to Ireland with the chorus group from her school for a performance there in April.
