(FOX Providence) - One of the oldest and most prestigious sporting events in North America, Providence’s Bay Colony Cluster Dog Show brings a 100-year tradition to the Rhode Island Convention Center December 3-6, 2009.

The Bay Colony Dog Show is a four-day show, with each day is hosted by three prestigious New England American Kennel Club (AKC) organizations.

After 100 years in Boston, the members of the Cluster are proud to bring this event to the beautiful new Rhode Island Convention Center in downtown Providence, accessible from Boston by the commuter rail and bus with a short walk over to the RICC.

Who is the Bay Colony Cluster?
The Bay Colony Cluster Dog Show is a series of shows presented by the Boston area's finest AKC dog clubs: Eastern Dog Club, Ladies' Dog Club, and Middlesex County Kennel Club. Supported generously by Pedigree, these clubs work together to produce one of the nation's biggest and best dog events.

What will I find at the show?
This year’s show is as big, exciting and competitive as ever! From Thursday through the last winner's trot around the show ring on Sunday, dog lovers will find approximately 150 AKC breeds judged against the recognized standards for the breed. The first "Best of Breed" competition starts bright and early at 8 a.m., followed by "Best of Group" in the late morning/early afternoon, and the "Best In Show" trophy is awarded anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. (each day varies depending on the number of dogs entered that day).

Please note that this year’s show will not feature agility and obedience, but American Kennel Club representatives can answer questions for you about these two AKC events or you can visit www.akc.org .
