NORTHBRIDGE MA (WPRI) - Northbridge police say they plan to file criminal charges against a school bus driver who allegedly left a 3-year-old boy on a bus in a parking lot for six hours.
Authorities say the preschooler, who is almost 4, was picked up at his house Monday at 8:25 a.m. The driver dropped off five other students at two schools before parking the bus in a lot without checking to see if it was empty.
Officials say the driver discovered the boy when he returned to the bus that afternoon. The child was released to the care of a baby sitter at about 2:40 p.m.
The driver and a bus monitor who was also on the bus were fired
by the bus company, Vendetti Bus Co. The child was checked
out by a doctor but was not injured and returned to school Tuesday.
