WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) - Three Massachusetts middle school students have been charged with trying to poison their teacher.

Police said Wednesday that three McDevitt Middle School students in Waltham, Mass. tried to get their teacher to drink some type of cleaning solution by hiding it in her water bottle Nov. 12.

But the teacher noticed the smell in her water bottle and was unharmed. A police investigation concluded that the students, two 13-year olds and a 12-year old, put some sort of cleaner in the water bottle.

All three students have been suspended indefinitely. Household cleaners, especially those with ammonia or bleach, can lead to vomiting, internal bleeding or death.
