FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) - A big snake that caused chaos in a Fall River neighborhood on Thursday afternoon has been captured. The giant reptile, believed to be a 9-foot-long boa constrictor , has been repeatedly seen on the roof of a triple-decker on East Main Street.

The snake has been spotted on several occasions. However, when police and Boston Animal Control searched for it earlier this week, the reptile eluded capture.

The snake has cause quite a stir in the neighbor, with drivers and passersby stopping to look and take pictures.

On Thursday, Fall River Animal Control said officers would no longer try to trap the reptile. They gave the landlord materials to make a homemade trap.

The landlord and his friends managed to capture the snake Thursday night. They said they jumped on top of the giant reptile after it made its way into the attic.

The house has a "no pet" policy and none of the tenants have owned up to the rogue snake.

However, the landlord said he spotted an empty aquarium while cleaning out a former tenant's apartment three months ago. He suspects the snake may have come from there.
