Suspect accused of burglarizing New Bedford homes

Police arrest a burglary suspect twice in as many weeks.

Investigators in New Bedford say Christopher Baptista broke into a house on Maxfield Street, stealing cash, jewelry and a $15,000 savings bond.

The homeowner noticed that someone had broken in and called 911, while she was waiting for police, she the suspect running from her home. Police chased the suspect down and arrested him.

Two weeks earlier, Baptista and his girlfriend, Sonia Cote, were arrested in the Far North End neighborhood. They're accused of robbing several homes, dressed like cable company contractors.
