(FOX Providence) - Whether you pronounce it chowder or chowdah, 3,000 gallons of the good stuff are sure to keep people talking and eating this weekend!
Competitors are converging on the City by the Sea from all over the country, including states as far away as Alaska and Florida. Twenty- nine competitors will be stirring the pot Saturday at the 2010 Knorr Great Chowder Cookoff hoping to win one of chowder fests' coveted titles.
Prize money and bragging rights are given to chefs that have the 'Best Clam', 'Best Seafood' and 'Best Creative' chowders.
And what goes better with chowder than clam cakes? The cook- off also features a clam cake competition.
Don't forget to head to the Eyewitness News booth to win some prizes of your own, and meet on-air talent, including Tony Petrarca, Michelle Muscatello, Ben Hague and Patrick Little, along with many news reporters.
It's the oldest and longest running chowder championships in the world, and will also feature live music and a variety of kid stops providing fun diversions for children.
