NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (FOX Providence) - Rhode Island's own Erika Van Pelt is sporting a new look.
Earlier this month, Eyewitness News caught up with her at Opening Day for the PawSox, where she still had the short, black hair from her American Idol run.
Now, she's decided to shed her famous Idol transformation, by going to those she knows and trusts in Narragansett.
While Erika blasted her way to the top 10 in American Idol, she didn't make the cut to stay on the show. But, she's getting ready for their upcoming tour.
The South Kingstown native went straight to her fans for an impromptu Twitter party, for help on a new look.
"Most people were like, kind of all over the place. But, when I broke it down, the majority liked the blonde."
And Erika admitted, it's just easier for her.
"Sometimes brunettes have more fun."
It's been a whirlwind, but the real fun for Erika is just around the corner. With her new look, Erika is ready for the national tour and to cut her first record.
She'll be singing in front of her hometown fans as the American Idol tour makes a stop at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday, August 26, 2012.
